     Exhibitions are being organized in all districts by the Information and Public Relations Department on behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu to enable people to understand the achievements and activities and avail themselves of the schemes of the various departments of the Government.

       Union and State Government Departments, Public Undertakings and Private Organizations participate in Government exhibitions to expedite various achievements of their departments. These Government Exhibitions also serve as a channel for direct and indirect employment for traders and others, in addition to giving entertainment to the public. Also, opportunities are provided for indigent drama artists to host their cultural programmes to raise their standard of living.

       Every year, Government Exhibitions are conducted in 10 Districts, wherein regular Government Exhibitions are being conducted at Coimbatore, Madurai, Salem, Tirunelveli, Tiruchirapalli and Vellore and other 4 Government Exhibitions are conducted in other districts on a rotational basis. In the year 2022-23, the exhibition conducted had a footfall of 7,42,150 persons and through this, Rupees 3 Crore 7 Lakh and 46 Thousand was earned as revenue by the Government.

       An honorarium of Rs.5000/- is being given to Indigent drama artists for conducting plays/awareness programmes in the Government exhibitions.

PRIVATE EXHIBITIONS
 
       Permission for conducting a private exhibition for more than 3 days in the districts is accorded by Information and Public Relations Department with recommendations obtained from District Collectors with the duly enclosures, necessary permissions from relevant departments and a cheque for the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund as fixed by the Government. The Private Exhibitions are conducted by following the guidelines framed by this department. Permission is accorded by District Collectors only after receiving Demand Drafts of the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund. Through the private exhibition conducted from 07.05.2021 to 03.08.2023, Rupees 4 Crore 33 Lakh 18 Thousand was received for the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund.
 
TAMIL NADU IN THE FREEDOM STRUGGLE - PHOTO EXHIBITION

       The Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu inaugurated a photo exhibition titled ‘Tamil Nadu in the Freedom struggle’ in the Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus at Koyambedu, Chennai on 01.11.2021, as a continuation of the 75th Independence Day celebrations. The exhibition displayed the photographs of freedom fighters from Tamil Nadu, who sacrificed their lives and underwent untold suffering and trauma during the country’s Freedom Struggle. The 14-day exhibition displayed the historic collection of various events during the Freedom Struggle, photographs of women who played a major role in the freedom movement, photographs and facts about those freedom fighters whose role hitherto was not known to the public, old coins with the engravings of freedom fighters, commemorative stamps and photos of freedom fighters. A large number of college and school students and persons who were preparing for competitive examinations enthusiastically visited the exhibition and benefited. This show which took place for 127 days, received a tremendous response from the people.

MOBILE PHOTO EXHIBITION

       On the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Kappalottiya Thamizhan V.O.Chidambaranar, a mobile photo exhibition was set up in a State Transport Corporation Bus which was to travel across the State was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister on 01.11.2021. The school students in the various districts visited the exhibition to know more about the life history of V.O. Chidambaranar and benefit from it.

ANNUAL FLOWER FESTIVAL IN NEW DELHI (PHOOL WALON KI SAIRE)

       Every year, the Information and Public Relations Department represents the Government of Tamil Nadu in the Annual Flower Festival (Phool Walon Ki Saire) held in New Delhi for the promotion of National Integration and Religious Harmony and has been winning prizes consequently for years together.

REPUBLIC DAY PAGEANTRY PROCESSION

       On behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu, the Information and Public Relations Department participates in the pageantry of floats at the Republic Day Celebrations in New Delhi every year by designing the float according to the theme recommended by the High Level Committee. It also participates in the cultural programme with the talented artists receiving tremendous appreciation from the viewers and bringing laurels to Tamil Nadu.

       The Information and Public Relations Department participated in the pageantry float in the year 2023 on the theme “Women Empowerment and Culture” portraying the seven Tamil Nadu Women who have achieved in various fields and drew the attention of the audience of the program.

       The Information and Public Relations Department participates in the pageantry of floats at the Republic Day Celebrations in Chennai every year.

       Also, the department co-ordinates the designing of floats and the procession of the pageantry of floats of various Departments of the Government of Tamil Nadu. In the Republic Day Celebrations of the year 2023 at Chennai, the tableau of the Information and Public Relations Department participated and won the third prize.

       During the previous year 2022, in the Republic Day celebrations which took place in Chennai, three tableaux participated in the pageantry portraying the participation of Tamil Nadu in the freedom struggle. Because these tableaus were rejected for the procession at New Delhi, to enable the people of all districts to view these tableaus and benefit from them, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu flagged its tour around the State, on 26.01.2022.

       These tableaux were welcomed by the Hon’ble Ministers, Members of the Parliament and Legislative Assembly, District Collectors, and Representatives of the Local Bodies of those districts respectively.

       Also, these tableaux were viewed by thousands of people such as Public, School and College students, Members of Self Help groups, Volunteers and Government Staff.

       The above-mentioned three tableaus travelled around 7000 km across most of the districts of Tamil Nadu.

INDIA TOURIST AND INDUSTRIAL FAIR

       The Information and Public Relations Department participates in the India Tourist and Industrial Fair at Chennai every year and puts up a separate pavilion showcasing the policies, activities and achievements of the Government depicting photographs and models to educate and create awareness among the public.

       This year, at the 47th India Tourism and Industrial Exhibition which was held at Island Grounds, Chennai, the Information and Public Relations Department was presented with the second prize for the best innovative concept, by designing a model of Manimandapam of Ki. Rajanarayanan, the father of Karisal literature, in order to explain the Government's projects and achievements.

INDIA INTERNATIONAL TRADE FAIR, NEW DELHI

       The Information and Public Relations Department also participates in the India International Trade Fair (I.I.T.F) held in New Delhi from November 14 to 27 every year for 14 days. On behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu, the pavilion of the Information and Public Relations Department was inaugurated by me on 17.11.2022. Photographs and models are set up attractively about the achievements, schemes, policies and developmental works of the various departments of the Government of Tamil Nadu and the arenas are designed in a way that all the people get to know about the welfare schemes and achievements of the Government of Tamil Nadu and the guidelines for the beneficiaries to avail welfare scheme benefits.

       As the Fair is conducted at the national level, the participating States will have the opportunity to know about the schemes and achievements of the Government of Tamil Nadu. It also creates a national level marketing opportunity for the products made by the women’s Self Help Groups of our State.

       In this exhibition, the folk dances are also performed and is organized by keeping in mind that the people of other States will also get to see the tradition and culture of Tamil Nadu and the socio-economic condition of the folk artists.

PHOTO EXHIBITION ON GOVERNMENT’S ACHIEVEMENTS

       A sum of Rupees 10 Thousand is sanctioned every year per district to conduct an annual photo exhibition on the Government’s Achievements in all District headquarters of Tamil Nadu including Chennai District, to facilitate people get awareness of the welfare schemes and activities of the Government.

       A sum of Rupees 10 Lakh per district, totalling to Rupees 3 Crore and 80 Lakh, has been sanctioned to 38 Districts for the year of 2022, to conduct annual photo exhibitions on Government’s Achievements (ஓயா உழைப்பின் ஓரண்டு). The public visited the exhibitions with great interest.

SPECIAL PHOTO EXHIBITIONS DURING FESTIVALS, GOVERNMENT FUNCTIONS

       Mini Photo Exhibitions are being conducted in all Districts during festivals and Government functions to create awareness on Government Welfare schemes to the public.

“VIDUTHALAI PORIL VEERA THAMIZHAGAM” 3D - LIGHT AND SOUND SHOW

       To commemorate the sacrifices of the freedom fighters who had selflessly toiled for the nation, as the Minister for this Department, I participated in the “Viduthalai Poril Veera Thamizhagam” 3D - Light and Sound Show conducted by the Information and Public Relations Department at Kalaivanar Arangam, Chennai on the occasion of Independence Day, on 15.08.2022. The light and sound show took place for 18 days from 15.08.2022 to 01.09.2022. The public, youth, school and college students watched the show and benefitted from it.
